MARS HILL AUDIO Catalog:
MP3 Products

For answers to frequently asked questions about our MP3 products, look at our Carefully Answered Questions (CAQ) page, which includes information about the MP3 format, burning CDs from MP3 files, the iTunes Music Store, and other relevant matters.

We’re as suspicious of the hype about the coming “digital revolution” as almost anyone. But we have to admit that we like the idea that someone can carry everything MARS HILL AUDIO has ever produced on a device about the size of a pack of gum (with room left for the complete organ works of J. S. Bach). We’ve made various MP3 audio files available through our web pages for years. Now, we’re expanding the range of internet-delivered audio to include many hours of listening. Some of the material is free, some of it is for purchase. All of it may be heard on your computer or through an MP3 player. Or, if you prefer listening to CDs, you may use your computer to burn copies to take in your car or on portable CD players.

Here are some of the options you now have:

  • Subscriptions - The MARS HILL AUDIO Journal is now available by subscription via MP3 downloads. Every two months, you’ll be notified by e-mail when a new issue is available, at which time you may login to your MP3 Library, download the files, and hear them right away; or transfer them to other media to hear later. The downloaded files for each issue of the Journal will include instructions for burning conventional CDs, so you can still take the Journal with you in your car even if you don’t have an MP3 player.

For more information, we've set up a page for new MP3 customers. Click on the SUBSCRIBE link above and to the left to begin the process.

If you would like to convert your existing subscription to an MP3 subscription, please call us at 1.800.331.6407, or e-mail us at soundthinking@marshillaudio.org.
  • Back issues, Conversations, Anthologies, & cetera - A large quantity of previously produced audio products is also available in downloadable MP3 format. We hope to release old materials in MP3 format as time goes on, and new products will be available in MP3 format.
  • Podcasts - A new, free service called Audition was launched in July 2006, offering 30-minute packages, hosted by Ken Myers, with excerpts from upcoming interviews on our Journal, retrievals from our audio archives, and timely interviews heard only on Audition. Our podcast page is at mhadigital.org. If you are in the habit of subscribing to RSS news feeds, a subscription to the feed address at our podcast page will also notify you of recent releases of MARS HILL AUDIO products in downloadable format.
  • FREE Sample Tracks - Dozens of interviews from past issues of the Journal have been available for some time, in streaming audio or downloadable form (in MP3 format). Review the list of material now available at www.marshillaudio.org/CDBonus.

All of our MP3 products are downloaded in the Zip file format, a file compression and archiving format which enables us to send audio material and accompanying printed material in a single package. Windows XP, Vista, and Mac OS X have unzipping utilities already installed. If you're using Windows 2000 or Mac OS 9, information is available here about obtaining the software you need. For all of our MP3 products, we make available a pdf document from which you may print CD labels. For most of our MP3 products (including the Journal), we also make templates to print up jewel case tray liners. To order sheets of labels, see here. To order tray liners, see here.

If you have any questions about any of these products or services, please e-mail us at MP3@marshillaudio.org.
